Drop any sample and play it in tune. Silt turns it into a grain cloud you can play from your keyboard.

C plays C: the root note comes from the file name or by ear. Cohere locks grains onto the pitch, Magnet pulls them onto transients and Scale Lock snaps notes to a scale. Chop into slices and sequence them, or morph in a second sample on layer B. Inspired by instruments like Murmur; Silt is its own design.

HOW TO OPEN ON MAC

macOS 15 and later says “Apple could not verify CMPLXTY-Silt-Setup-1.0.0-mac.pkg is free of malware.” That is because this Mac download is not signed with an Apple Developer ID yet, not because anything is wrong with it (check the SHA256 below). Click Done (not Move to Trash), then use one of these:

Option A, Terminal (macOS 13 to 26). Paste this, then double-click the file:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ~/Downloads/CMPLXTY-Silt-Setup-1.0.0-mac.pkgCOPY

Option B, Settings: open System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click Open Anyway next to “CMPLXTY-Silt-Setup-1.0.0-mac.pkg was blocked”, then enter your Mac password. The button only stays for about an hour after the blocked attempt. If it is not there, use Option A.

HOW TO OPEN

WINDOWS: “WINDOWS PROTECTED YOUR PC”

Our Windows installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you the first time. You can check the file against the SHA-256 shown on this page.

1. Double-click CMPLXTY-Silt-Setup-1.0.0-win.exe.
2. If you see “Windows protected your PC”, click More info.
3. Click Run anyway, then follow the installer.

If your browser flags the download, choose Keep, or Keep anyway under “Show more”.

MAC: “APPLE COULD NOT VERIFY…”

Our Mac installer isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS blocks it the first time.

Easiest: open Terminal and paste this, then enter your Mac password when asked. No warning appears.

Or use System Settings: double-click the file and click Done (not Move to Trash). Then go to Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, click Open Anyway next to the blocked file, enter your password and click Open. • Grain engine: Position, Scan, Density (up to ~200/s), Size 10 to 500 ms, Pitch, Fine, Jitter, Spray, Spread, Shape, Reverse, Magnet, Level Comp
• Tune Auto / Manual / Off, use detected root, Cohere, Scale Lock (13 scales)
• Slice mode: transient or equal grid (4 / 8 / 16 / 32), one key per chop, 16-step host-synced sequencer
• Layer B: Morph Blend / Swap / Ring / Cross, offset, pitch, Key Match
• Mod: 2 LFOs with tempo sync, mod envelope, 4 macros, per-grain random, velocity / note / wheel / MPE; drag a MOD chip onto any knob
• FX rack (drag to reorder): beat repeat, compressor, delay, reverb; per-grain filter
• Up to 16 voices, glide, pitch bend, MPE

INSTALL

1. Windows: run CMPLXTY-Silt-Setup-1.0.0-win.exe. One setup program, nothing to unzip.
2. Mac: open CMPLXTY-Silt-Setup-1.0.0-mac.pkg (see How to open above).
3. Rescan plugins in your DAW. In FL Studio: Options > Manage plugins > Find plugins.

HONEST STATUS

This is the first release. The Mac installer is unsigned and has not been tested on a real Mac yet. Keep a backup of your project the first time you use it, and tell me what breaks.
